The Industrial Source Monitoring Unit of the Stationary Source Compliance Program specifies monitoring and testing procedures, conducts emission monitor and stack test audits, and reviews and approves final reports, for stationary sources. The monitoring unit conducts "smoke school," (Visible Emissions Certification) for affected industry personnel. 

  • Specifies and approves all stationary source emissions monitoring and testing procedures.
  • Works with stationary source permitting and compliance programs to ensure consistent and reliable testing methods.
  • Observes and certifies all acid rain emission continuous monitors.
