The Mobile and Area Sources Program (M&As) evaluates and controls emissions from mobile (on-road and off-road) sources and area (small industrial) sources. The program works to implement enhanced vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance programs through "Georgia's Clean Air Force."  The program also addresses air quality nonattainment issues, including developing and implementing control strategies. 

  • Evaluates and controls emissions from mobile (vehicular and non-road) sources and area (small stationary) sources.
  • Implements the enhanced vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance program.
  • Addresses Atlanta ozone non-attainment issues including developing and implementing control strategies.
  • Coordinates federal grants for voluntary emission reduction projects such as school bus retrofits, idling reduction initiatives and alternative fuels.  Implements the Low Emission Vehicle Certification Program, which provides tax credits for the purchase of dedicated alternative fueled vehicles and implements and enforces the Stage I & II Gasoline Vapor Recovery Rules, Gasoline Transport Rule, Bulk Gasoline Plants (vapor recovery), and Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Requirements Rule.
