Georgia AERMET Meteorological Data

GA EPD processed two sets of five years (2012-2016 and 2012-2016 with U star options) of meteorological data for various combinations of ASOS surface and upper air station pairings.  Assignment of station pairings to each county was based on distance to the centroid of the county, climatological zone, data collection period, and data completeness criteria.

The meteorological files were processed using AERMET (v16216), AERSURFACE (v13016), and AERMINUTE (v15272).  One-minute meteorological data (TD-6405 format) are available for most ASOS stations during 2012-2016, except six ASOS stations during June-December, 2013. The six ASOS stations are KVPC (Cartersville), KRMG (Rome), KFFC (Peachtree City-Falcon Field), KGVL (Gainesville), KDNL (Augusta), and KSSI (Brunswick).  The missing one-minute data at these sites was replaced with 5-minute meteorological data (TD-6401 format). Additionally, the 2015 meteorological data at Valdosta (KVLD) was only generated without 1-minute meteorological data due to missing 1-minute meteorological data.

A justification of the representativeness of the meteorological data for a specific site location must be provided in the modeling protocol.  View the surface station height information (both surface and upper air stations). The surface station height is used in AERMOD input as PROFBASE keyword.
