Georgia Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Plan and Studies
Peach State Voluntary Emission Reduction Plan
In March 2024, as required by the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant, Georgia EPD submitted the Peach State Voluntary Emission Reduction Plan or Peach State Plan. The Peach State Plan included 21 priority emission reduction measures. It examines the state emissions inventory, the quantified emission reduction of the 21 measures, reviews the authority to implement the measures, available funding opportunities for implementation, and workforce impacts analysis.

Peach State Voluntary Emission Reduction Studies
The Peach State Voluntary Emission Reduction Studies or Peach State Studies further develop the opportunity for environmental planning with support from a diverse range of stakeholders.
The Peach State Studies provide strategies for landfill operators and private timberland owners for reducing emissions while supporting economic development alongside local governments, nonprofit organizations, and private sector partners throughout the state.
It examines the state emissions inventory and projections, the quantified emission reduction of measures, reviews the authority to implement the measures, available funding opportunities for implementation, and workforce impacts analysis.
- Expanding LFGTE projects: This measure aims to capture methane emissions released by waste in landfills and convert it into energy in the form of electricity, heat, or alternative fuels such as renewable natural gas (RNG).
- Expanding reforestation projects: This measure aims to encourage reforestation of timberland across Georgia to protect forest carbon sinks that reduce emissions and support Georgia’s forest industry.
The Peach State Studies will be posted here when the final draft is published.
