Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Cycle FY25

The FY25 Recycling and Waste Diversion (RWD) Grant was announced on July 15, 2024, with an initial $2.5 million budget. Applications were accepted between August 15, 2024, and October 4, 2024. 

A total of ten applications were received for the RWD Grant, amounting to $3.7 million in grant award requests. Each application was reviewed and scored based on overall project purpose and need, implementation plan, metrics, and cost effectiveness.

The following seven grantees were selected for a total of $3,182,051:

Athens-Clarke CountyEquipment: Screener for cardboard processing
Carroll CountyInfrastructure: Cardboard compactor
City of Tybee IslandInfrastructure and equipment: Coastline recycling bins, Styrofoam densifier
Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste AuthorityEquipment: Front-end loader truck, recycling bin repair
Gordon CountyInfrastructure: Roll-off containers for paper recycling
Laurens CountyInfrastructure: Food residuals collection for composting
The Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Georgia*Infrastructure: Center for Hard to Recycle Material (CHaRM) recycling facility
