UST Tank Closures
The Georgia UST Management Program recommends closing tanks and other UST components by removing them from the ground. Tanks that remain in the ground, even properly “closed in place” can cause delays and added expense when selling a property in the future. Whether you choose to remove the tanks or close them in place, you must submit the Closure Activity Form at least 30 days in advance and then follow the closure guidance and fill out the closure report template.
The following documents are required for a tank closure.
- Closure Activity Form, GUST-29 This form is to be completed before closure activities
- Closure Report Template [Rev Jan 2011]
Following the Closure Guidance document will ensure all requirements are submitted properly
- UST Closure Report Guidance [Rev Jan 2011]
For additional guidance on closure of UST’s, refer to 40 CFR Part 280.71.
