Community Involvement
Open Records Requests
The Environmental Protection Division has transitioned to a new system for Open Records Requests. As of March 30th, 2026, members of the public, media, and other stakeholders are required to submit requests through the new Open Records Request Portal, which is accessible on the Environmental Protection Division website under eServices.
Under the Georgia Open Records Act, all public records are available for inspection and copying unless they are specifically exempted from disclosure under the law.
Public Notices and Hearings
Public participation is an integral part of Georgia's environmental programs. Many of our permitting and enforcement actions, and all of our regulations, go through a formal public notice and comment period, open to all citizens that give them the ability to influence agency decisions before they are finalized.
