The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will host a forum on Tuesday, March 14 in Hawkinsville to answer questions and also receive formal comments regarding Hollingsworth and Vose Company’s Air Quality Operating Permit application to construct a new manufacturing plant that would be a major stationary source in Hawkinsville. This proposed plant would operate under the name Hyalus.

     The meetings, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m., will be held at Hawkinsville City Hall. City hall is located at 96 Broad Street, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.

     The purpose of the question and answer session is to present information and to answer questions about the air quality permitting review process for the proposed Hollingsworth and Vose Company Air Quality Operating Permit. EPD will follow the Q&A session with a public hearing to receive formal comments for the official record regarding the proposed permit application.

     “Hollingsworth and Vose Company is required by federal and state laws to obtain an Air Quality Operating Permit for its proposed new production facility and would be required to comply with all applicable state and federal standards,” said Eric Cornwell, manager of the Stationary Source Permitting Program of EPD’s Air Protection Branch. “We will consider all air quality-related comments prior to making a decision whether to recommend the approval of Hollingsworth and Vose’s environmental permit.”

     Hollingsworth and Vose Company is seeking to construct a new specialty glass fiber manufacturing plant at 106 Industrial Boulevard in Hawkinsville. Hollingsworth and Vose currently owns and operates an existing paper facility adjacent to the planned new plant.

     A copy of Hollingsworth and Vose Company’s permit application is available for inspection and review during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except official State holidays, at the Environmental Protection Division, Air Protection Branch, 4244 International Parkway, Suite 120, Atlanta, Georgia.

     The Hollingsworth and Vose Company Air Quality Operating Permit application number is 24026. The company’s application is available for viewing at: epd.georgia.gov/psd112gnaa-nsrpcp-permits-database. 

Comments regarding this permit application are due by March 17, 2017.
