NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON DRAFT NON-FARM SURFACE WATER WITHDRAWAL PERMIT - SOUTHERN NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY - VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT (UNITS 3 AND 4) TO ALL INTERESTED PERSONS AND PARTIES: Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to the authority set forth below, the Environmental Protection Division (hereafter, "EPD") of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources announces its intent to issue a new Industrial Surface Water Withdrawal Permit No. 017-0191-11 for water withdrawal of 74.0 MGD/62.0 MGD (24-hour Max Day/Monthly Average in million gallons per day) from the Savannah River for the purposes of cooling and in-plant use. To provide the public an opportunity to comment upon and provide input into the draft permit, a public hearing will be held on May 8, 2014 at the following location: May 8, 2014 (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.): Augusta Technical College Auditorium, 216 Georgia 20, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830. At the public hearing, anyone may present data, make a statement, comment or make a viewpoint or argument either orally or in writing. Lengthy statements or statements of a considerable technical or economic nature, as well as previously recorded messages, must be submitted in writing for the official record. Oral statements should be concise. Written comments from the public hearing are welcomed. To ensure their consideration, written comments should be received by May 15, 2014. Comments may be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line "Plant Vogtle". The proposed draft permit will be considered for approval pursuant to authority contained in O.C.G.A. § 12-5-31, et seq.
