Lead-Based Paint
Georgia's Lead-Based Paint Program administers the Georgia Lead-Based Paint Hazard Management Rules to minimize the spread of lead dust and debris by regulating activities that disturb lead-based paint in target housing and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.
Since 2010, the program has enforced the Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) section of the rule by:
- Issuing certifications for contractors and firms
- Accrediting training providers
- Conducting outreach and education
- Developing technical guidance
The program enforces the Lead-Based Paint Abatement section of the rule by:
- Issuing certifications for abatement inspectors, risk assessors, project designers, supervisors, workers, and lead firms
- Accrediting training providers
- Reviewing inspections and risk assessments
- Conducting outreach and education
- Developing technical guidance
